Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This was definitely my favorite of the HP books so far. I love the character development that has been continuing from book 1. It is so fun to "grow up" with these kids and to see how they mature and grow, etc. I thought this book did a great job of continuing a lot of the other storylines from prior books as well as bringing in new ideas and new challenges for the characters. That being said, I don't think anything got rushed or screwed up and it all still flowed well. With some books the authors have trouble keeping a bunch of different lines clear and distinct. I think that Rowling does a great job because she keeps all of the storylines connected at one clear point, which is a way that she can circle back to if anything does by chance get a little off track (but even that hasn't happened)
I am looking forward to reading the final three books!

I remember my shock at the death in this book. A sign of dark times to come. It really is a wonderful series; I'm on my 20th re-read!
ReplyDeleteI know! I was shocked. I remember gasping while reading it one night in bed and my fiance asking, "what happened?" And then me saying "oh so and so died in the book" - It wasn't as shocking to him as me. Oh well.
