M is for... Movies

I am a HUGE movie fan.

I love all kinds of movies, all genres, all decades, etc.

I don't often agree with reviews of movies and have a lot of movies that I watch a TON that didn't receive HIGH reviews...

For example, some of my guilty pleasure movies I watch on a pretty regular basis...

Mallrats.

Employee of the Month.

Grownups.

I Love You, Beth Cooper.

Grandma's Boy.

Sixteen Candles.

The Breakfast Club.

All About Steve.

And that's just to name a few. We have sooooo many movies. It's insane to think of how many we have. I don't know what it is about movies. I just can't get enough of them!

L is for... getting (L)et go

You know how I mentioned that I got a new job? A job that I really enjoyed and hoped to gain knowledge and Insight from...

Well, just four days after started work, a week after being hired, I was told I was being let go

It completely blindsided me.

I was not doing a bad job. She hadn't told me I was having any issues. She had no complaints.

Apparently I was let go because she was too worried that I would pass the Bar (please God let that be so) and then leave them high and dry. It wasn't because I was bad at the job, she even said I was doing a great job and catching on to things fast.

I had never told her I would leave. I had assured her that I would stay. I don't know if she wanted me to reassure her every day or what. I don't think there was anything more that I could do.

She says they didn't want to spend their time and money on something that wouldn't be long term. I never indicated I didn't want to be there for the long haul. If anything I had re-assured her that I did.

Alas, I digress. I am once again jobless.

It sucks. Bills and loans keep coming and my money is slowly becoming non-existent.

The Bar results come out in 2 weeks and I am continually praying that I pass!

Half Marathon Training Run 3.22

Today was beautiful weather for an after work run! I really didn't want to go after work, I was tired and my stomach hurt, excuses excuses... But I just went out for it. The first mile was like 13:10 which sucked, but at the end I was averaging an 11:45 pace. I walked a little bit because my thighs were tight, but all around decent run!

Todays' stats = 3.02 miles in 36:40

K is for... Knitting

In the theme of when I posted about something I would like to learn to do, see gardening, I decided today I would follow that suit.

I would also like to learn how to knit.

I really enjoy making things and having fun hobbies and crafts that can keep me busy and keep me learning, etc.

I think knitting could be just that!

I don't really know anything else to say on the subject, but if anyone has any tips, tricks, suggestions, etc. don't hesitate to leave a comment! :)

J is for... Jogging

If you know me, you know that I LOVE to run.

I have done two half marathons, one 10k, and multiple 5ks.

I did track and cross country in high school.

I didn't run in college, but that's because I am slow.

I even have trouble saying that I'm going running.

If you ever see me mention when I'm going out for this activity, I will most likely say I am going jogging.

I don't know why I can't call it running. That's what it is afterall. Right? Running. Running. Running.

However, I think I have a mental block because of my lack of speed. Hence, the use of the term jogging.

I jog. I rarely run. I aspire to run, hence the use of lawyergirlruns86 in my blogger site address.

I may sometimes use the term running, but usually if I am thinking about it I will say jogging.

Why do I feel the need to down-grade my efforts?

Is that what I am even doing?

I think so.

So today I am hoping for more times where I can be running, instead of jogging.

(I do not mean this post to down-grade jogging and joggers... just been something on my mind.)

Half Marathon Training Run 3.21

Today I didn't run until after work. I wanted to get up early and go before work, but I just couldn't drag myself out of bed. It doesn't help that I have to leave home earlier because I have a 45 minute commute, but that's neither here nor there. I got the run done and that's what matters! :)

Half Marathon Training Run 3.20

It went ok. Today is my first day at my new job and actually having something to do during the day besides hanging out with Harry, reading books, watching Lifetime movies, and applying for any and every job possible. I barely peeled myself out of bed at 6:20am, but I did it! Thinking if I want to be up by 6am I may have to set my alarms for 5:40am or even 5:30am. I did the 4 minutes run, 1 minute walk, method... I did that for the entire workout today since I hadn't ran in a few days and had missed some of my higher mileage runs last week. Hoping that tomorrow goes a little better, but all around this wasn't too bad!

Todays' stats = 3.00 miles in 36:27

I is for... Insight

Today is my very first day at my new employer. I am starting out as a paralegal/legal firm in a small firm that's approximately 25 miles from where I live.

You may ask why this is important or relevant to my topic for today, which is Insight.

While I am not 100% certain this is where I will want to stay for the longhaul, especially since I would like to be an attorney at some point in my life, I do realize that the amount of insight that I will gain here will be invaluable.

The staff and attorneys have all been here for 10+ years, some even longer and upwards of 20+.

They know the in's and out's of practice and business.

The lady whom shares the office with me has been here for 20 years and is primarily a probate staff assistant.

You better bet I will be asking her questions whenever I have them!

I am definitely a young professional at just 25 years old and I think gaining insight from those who have much more experience is so very important.

Not just in the job environment, but in all arenas of life.

Just Closed... [Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close]

Extremely Loud and Incredibly CloseExtremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer

This book was a heartbreaking story of a young boy who has lost his closest friend, his father, during the falling of the towers on September 11th. The story is from the point of view of the little boy, Oskar Schell, a 7 year old boy who is extremely wise beyond his years. His journey to find comfort in the untimely passing of his father is at times silly and other times very painfully sad. The inclusion of stories from both his father's mother and father are a great addition to the story. I would recommend it to anyone who wanted to read it and I cannot wait to see the movie.

H is for... High Heels

High heels.

I wish I could love you. Strike that.

I do love you.

I just don't love the way you make me stumble around like a drunk person even when I'm stone cold sober.

I love the way you make me look (aside from the stumbling and tottering around), and I love how cute a pair of you can be.

I do not love how I can never fully get used to walking in you.

I do not love that Joe makes fun of me when we are out and I'm wearing you and tottering like a toddler.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not giving up on you just yet.

I do love my modest heels from Cole Haan that I can actually walk in with poise and grace, I just wish all of you were like that pair.

Being a young professional I know it's not necessarily appropriate for me to wear sneakers every day, even though I would love to! And yes, I can wear flats and be dressy, but there's still something about you.

While you often make me feel like a klutz, I still aspire to one day be able to wear you without having to slow step or damn near trip over my own feet!

Just Closed... [Long Gone]

Long GoneLong Gone by Alafair Burke
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

For me the book started out a bit slow. It seemed to not really pick up until it got about to the mid-point. I also didn't really like the disjointed storylines that were going on in the beginning. While the same story lines continued throughout, I think the author ultimately did a wonderful job tying them all in together and resolving a lot of the issues that I had initially. Overall I think it was a great book and it definitely had twists that I wasn't expecting.
