L is for... getting (L)et go

You know how I mentioned that I got a new job? A job that I really enjoyed and hoped to gain knowledge and Insight from...

Well, just four days after started work, a week after being hired, I was told I was being let go

It completely blindsided me.

I was not doing a bad job. She hadn't told me I was having any issues. She had no complaints.

Apparently I was let go because she was too worried that I would pass the Bar (please God let that be so) and then leave them high and dry. It wasn't because I was bad at the job, she even said I was doing a great job and catching on to things fast.

I had never told her I would leave. I had assured her that I would stay. I don't know if she wanted me to reassure her every day or what. I don't think there was anything more that I could do.

She says they didn't want to spend their time and money on something that wouldn't be long term. I never indicated I didn't want to be there for the long haul. If anything I had re-assured her that I did.

Alas, I digress. I am once again jobless.

It sucks. Bills and loans keep coming and my money is slowly becoming non-existent.

The Bar results come out in 2 weeks and I am continually praying that I pass!

  1. Ouch! There are many reasons one might be let go from a job - doing too well as a reason sucks. Best of luck with your Bar results, and good luck in your hunt for a boss who will take you at your word.

  2. UGH! I am so sorry to hear that you were let go. On the bright side, you are TOTALLY going to pass and then you can find an even better fit. Still, it sucks that she made that decision without even talking to you first. Sigh. Sending good thoughts your way. :)

  3. This really does suck & I can relate. I was laid off once the very first day I started a job. They were closing the day treatment center that I was working at. Really? I'm sure they knew this when they hired me. I can understand the law firm wanting someone to stay long term but this should have been a topic of conversation before hiring you. Sorry about this. Just try to keep in mind that God has plans for all of us - even if we don't know what they are.

  4. I am still totally shocked about this! I just can't believe that a business would do this to someone! :(
